Iowa Regional Lily Show

The 2004 Lily Show will be held at the Merle Hay Mall, 4000 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa, 50310.

Show Hours:

Saturday, June 19: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Sunday, June 20: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Judging will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Admission is free to the Exhibit Hall

Entries in design, cut stem and single floret competition will be accepted on Friday, July 9, 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. & on Saturday, July 10, 6:00 - 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Parish Center. The lilies will then be judged. The show will be open to the public starting at 1:00 p.m..

Dr. Eugene Fox, North American Lily Society President and noted lily hybridizer, will be the keynote speaker at our awards banquet Saturday evening.

Self-guided garden tours to many of Mora's premier lily gardens will be open to North Star Lily Society members. Membership is $10 for 2 years and information will be available at the show registration desk.

LILY PHOTO CONTEST
July 9, 10 and 11, 2004, Mora Minnesota
At the NSLS Lily Show “Kaleidoscope of Kolor- Lilies on Parade”

There are two divisions:
I. Competition
II. Exhibition

Division I: Competition (amateur photographers only)

There are two categories:
A. Individual flower or flowers belonging to the genius Lilium, or
B. Garden scene photos featuring Lilium plants and/or flowers.

Each participant is limited to a maximum of two entries in each category. Judging will take place by popular ballot cast by the viewing public. In each category, ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. In addition, 1st place winners in each category will receive a $75- gift certificate.

Division II: Exhibition (open to amateur and professional photographers)

Categories of entry and maximum number of entries per participant are identical to Division I. In this Division II there will be no judging, thus no ribbons nor prizes.

Entry information

Photos must be either 8x10 or 81/2x11 and mounted on cardboard or poster-board or foam core of the same size. The back of the photo should contain the (printed!) name of the entrant, address and phone-number, and e-mail address when available. It must also contain the Division and Category the photo is entered in (e.g. IA, or IIB, etc.)

NSLS retains the right to place photos in a more appropriate category, or to reject photos.

Participants retain all legal rights to their photos, but grant NSLS permission to use entered photos for educational and promotional purposes such as the NSLS web-site, NSLS written publications, or NSLS photo-CDs.

Mail entries to: NSLS Photo Contest, 2159 South Pine Ridge Road, Mora, MN 55051. Mailed entries should arrive by Thursday, July 8, 2004. Hand–delivered entries will be accepted only on Friday, July 9, 2004 from 2:00pm until 6:00 pm at the NSLS Lily Show at St Mary’s Parish Center, 225 East Forest Avenue, Mora MN.

Participants may pick up their photos at the end of the NSLS Lily Show (4:00 pm Sunday, July 11, 2004). Photos not picked up will be discarded or become part of the NSLS Library
(Other specific arrangements can be made with NSLS providing that is done prior to Sunday, July 11).
