The North Star Lily Society presents its second
LILY PHOTO CONTEST
In conjunction with its 39th annual Lily Show
July 7 & 8, 2007, Bachman's Heritage Room

I. The photo contest is open to NSLS members as well as non-members. All photos must feature “true” lilies (genus Lilium).

II. There are two divisions

A. The “Competition” Division is open to amateur photographers only. Photos may be of a single lily floret or multiple plants grouped in a flowerbed. Close-ups are acceptable as long as the photo clearly depicts the subject as a member of the genus Lilium.

 Judging will take place by ballots cast by Lily Show visitors. Ribbons will be  awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. In addition to winning a ribbon, the 1st place photo will receive a “People’s Choice Photo” award.    

There’s a limit of two photos per participant in this Division.

B. The “Exhibition” Division is open to amateur and professional photographers. Entries will not be judged, no ribbons or prizes will be awarded. Photos that have won a ribbon in prior NSLS or NALS Photo Contests may be entered in the "Exhibition" Division only. There is a limit of two photos per participant in this Division as well.

V. Entry Information

A. Photos must be either 8”x10” or 8 1/2”x11” in size, and must be mounted on 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch thick cardboard, poster-board, or foam-board of the same size as the photo.

B. The back of the photo should contain the following printed information:

1. Name of the entrant, address and phone-number, and e-mail address when available.

2. The Division and Category the photo is entered in (e.g. “Competition, Single Lily”)

3. The name of the lily or lilies pictured (“Unknown Lily” or "Lilies" is acceptable).

C. The NSLS Show Committee has the right to place photos in the most appropriate Division, or to refuse displaying a photo altogether.

D. Participants retain all legal rights to their photos, but grant NSLS permission to use entered photos for NSLS-related educational and promotional purposes such as the NSLS web-site, NSLS written publications, etc.

E. Participants may pick up their photos at the end of the Lily Show. Photos not picked up will become property of the North Star Lily Society’s library.

Deadline for mailed entries is 6:00pm July 5, 2007. Hand–delivered entries will be accepted at the NSLS Lily Show at Bachman's Heritage Room (6010 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN) on Friday, July 6th from 4 pm to 8 pm and until 9 am on Saturday, July 7, 2007.
